About

Lawn Management

Welcome!

I opened Lawn Management 35 years ago with my mission: “A safe approach to manage your lawn.” This was environmentally responsible then, and it still rings true today. Close customer contact, great results and prompt service are the hallmarks that have established our reputation as reliable professionals. Our friendly sound advice and experience in lawn care will improve your lawn and keep it thick and green. We will also control your problems whether they are weeds, crabgrass, insect, or diseases.

All of our lawn programs are science-based, and we already have a proven track record in your neighborhood. Please look over our different programs to see which best suits you. If you don’t see exactly what you are looking for, please ask; we can customize a lawn care plan specifically for your property.

We look forward to working with you. If you ever have any questions, please give us a call.

Sincerely,

Mike Heffernan

TICK BUSTERS PROGRAM - Reduce your risks for Lyme Disease

A recent study by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that Lyme disease affects 300,000 people every year. Symptoms are not always obvious and may come and go. Untreated, Lyme disease can spread to the brain, heart, and joints. Researchers continue to discover its devastating long-term effects. Unfortunately risk factors include spending time outdoors in your own yard, gardening and owning a pet that goes outdoors. Lyme is only one of many diseases that ticks can transmit and carry. Deer ticks also carry five other bacteria that cause illness with symptoms that closely resemble Lyme - adding to the difficulty in making an accurate diagnosis. South Shore towns are now alerting residents in local newspapers about growing tick populations and the need for safety and body inspections. We can control the tick population easily and safely in one or two treatments per season. Make your yard a safe place for your kids and pets to play. The product is environmentally friendly with excellent results

MOSQUITO PROTECTION: A Big Hit for Clients

Our cookout motto “It is better to eat then be eaten”

Our mosquito control programs have become quite popular and effective in reducing mosquito popula tions and making yards fun again. Our programs range from four to six treatments per season. We visit and treat once per month starting in the spring and continuing through September. We use an organic garlic control spray that will reduce populations for a month. It is safe for plants, lawns, gar dens, and of course, people and pets, too.

We have had great feedback from clients who are now able to enjoy their property without getting eaten alive. Please let us know if you would like a quote for your property.

TREES - Invasion of Scale Insects

Scale insects have an armored shell for protection against birds and enemies. This shell can also act as camouflage, so the insects blend into the bark of a host tree. Scale insects have long been a problem on ornamental plants like euonymus, lilacs and cherry, but in the last five years, they have also become a problem on: privet hedge, yew, hemlock, magnolia, rhododendron and holly.

A thriving population of these scale insects can kill even a mature tree or hedge in only a couple of seasons.

To diagnose your own tree, look at the underside of leaves for a cottony growth, which is a sign your tree is infested. Another indication is a blackish cast on the bark or leaves, which is sooty mold that grows in conjunction with the insect. We will be glad to examine your plants if you are concerned about a possible infestation.

AQUA-SAVER PROGRAM Makes water wetter

Aqua-Saver is the best water tool ever and is the future of watering. Aqua-Saver will allow you to use half as much water to keep your lawn green or alive and greatly lower your water bill. We see great results from this product. We saw first-hand how beneficial Aqua Saver was for lawns in the midst of dry conditions. Golf courses have been using these for the last 20 years. Our program includes four applications a year that are carefully timed around environmental conditions.

THE ULTIMATE TOOL~

Hose End Sprinklers

Even with my sprinkler system, I have two spots in my lawn that dry out faster than the rest of the lawn. I always use a hose and sprinkler and soak the spot. Once the spots are soaked, the sprinkler system can take over and keep the area green.

Everyone needs to have a sprinkler and hose. They are critical tools for lawn health. You’ve spent a fortune on your underground system, don’t skimp on this simple fix. Even the best sprinkler system sometimes needs assistance.
